Study Abroad Programs in Rome

Come, see, print.

Betterpress offers immersive workshops for study-abroad programmes that combine urban exploration, epigraphic research and letterpress printing in the heart of Rome. Students investigate the culture of the letter across the centuries — from ancient inscriptions to contemporary signage — working directly with moveable type in our studio between Trastevere and Testaccio.

Programmes are ideal for faculty-led courses in printmaking, typographic design, book arts, visual culture and interdisciplinary studies.

Half-day / Full-day Workshop

In-studio workshop for visiting groups. Participants collaborate to design and print a collective poster using traditional letterpress tools and techniques. Ideal as part of a study-abroad itinerary.

3-day or 7-day Intensive Programme

Immersive workshop combining guided urban explorations, epigraphy tours and letterpress printing. Students investigate Rome's visual culture and produce a final printed project.

3-week Residency

Immersive studio programme with guided tours, workshops, open-studio days and a final exhibition — a deep immersion in Rome's typographic heritage and contemporary letterpress practice.
